Travelling to Canada
Visa Information
The Canadian visa application has recently been revised and no longer requires disclosure of HIV status on the application form.

This change is permanent, and not just for the conference period.

The updated form can be found on the
Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.

Please click here for Canada travel entry and visa information.

Travelling from the United States
A passport is the ideal identification for United States residents. Citizens born in the U.S can show a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship or naturalisation, plus photo identification. Permanent residents of the U.S. who are not citizens need to bring their U.S. Permanent Resident Card (‘green card’).

Transit through the United States

For delegates who need to travel through the United States, current information on requirements can be found on the consular sections at individual U.S. embassy and consulate homepages. A US visa is required to transit through the US from most countries.

Travelling from other countries
Travellers from countries other than the U.S. may require a "Temporary Resident" visa (includes short-term visitors) to enter or transit Canada.

Visitors should contact the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate, or visit Canada International or call 1-888-242-2100 (from within Canada) or 1-800-992-7037 (from outside Canada) for further information.

Canada Welcomes the World to Toronto

Cultures and languages from all over the world thrive in Toronto, one of the most multicultural cities in the world, making it the ideal host for AIDS 2006.

This is the third International AIDS Conference to be hosted in Canada. Montréal hosted the International AIDS Conference in 1989, and Vancouver in 1996.

As Canada’s largest city, Toronto possesses the best features of the world in a clean, safe and friendly environment. In downtown Toronto, a leisurely walk is all it takes to travel between thousands of hotel rooms, inspired cuisine, great sporting venues, year-round international film, culture and music festivals, the CN Tower, major convention centres, a shopping mecca with international flair, and miles of waterfront, beaches, boardwalks and trails.

Beyond the vibrant and diverse city neighbourhoods where more than 80 cultures intertwine, Niagara Falls, a world-class wine region, and dozens of outdoor adventures wait for you – all just a short drive away.

Canada has no travel restrictions for visitors living with HIV, and visitors are not required to disclose their HIV status.
