Description / Focus: This symposium will offer the perspective of scientists, reporters, activists and editors about how and when HIV/AIDS is covered in the news media, how decisions are made or should be made regarding the provision of balanced coverage about controversial issues and/or perspectives on HIV medicine and science. The speakers come from both developed and developing countries, and will highlight both challenges and best practices in reporting on scientific issues in HIV/AIDS from the vantage point of those whose research is being covered by the press and from those who report on that science.
